There are about 1,600 steps from the trailhead to the pavilion at the top of the mountain. There are pavilions, viewing platforms and wooden chairs along the way for rest. The scenery on the road is no less than that on the top of the mountain.
If you don’t want to walk down the stone steps, you can turn right at the second pavilion after going down the mountain. This is a muddy mountain road, but it is not recommended to walk on muddy roads on rainy days.

I recommend going to Jiufen on weekdays because it can be very crowded on weekends and public holidays. The crowds in the winding alleys are a bit unbearable.
The best time to visit Jiufen is during autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May), when the weather is mild, the skies are clearer, and the mountain views are at their most stunning.
During these seasons, Jiufen enjoys cooler temperatures and lower humidity, making it more comfortable to explore the steep alleyways, outdoor teahouses, and scenic lookouts without heavy rain or intense heat.
The mild weather allows you to enjoy the outdoor viewpoints and attractions without being too hot or cold.
